Business ethics

Our products are important to the health of people around the world, so it is particularly important that we operate to high ethical standards, act responsibly and comply with the law.

We are fully committed to ensuring that all our business practices meet high standards and that our employees behave ethically and honestly. We have clear and comprehensive Group policies and procedures, backed by training and monitoring to assist all our employees to achieve the highest ethical standards in their work.

Our Employee Guide to Business Conduct contains the Group policies that set out the standards of behaviour we expect from employees and is clearly communicated both within and outside the company.

The sale and promotion of pharmaceutical products is highly regulated by governments and medical agencies. We are aware of the sensitivity and concerns regarding the marketing of medicines and we are absolutely committed to high ethical standards. We have developed marketing codes and policies and provide training to guide sales representatives, to ensure that they behave ethically and comply with the law.

We believe that it is important to work with governments to contribute to constructive debate on issues surrounding pharmaceuticals and healthcare. In limited circumstances and only where permitted by law we may make political donations as part of this engagement. All of our interactions are governed by the Group policies.

We have global auditing in place to fully investigate suspected breaches of our Group policies and take appropriate disciplinary action, including dismissal where appropriate.
