GSK achieves new CommunityMark
Our work with communities has been recognised by Business in the Community (BITC) with a CommunityMark following an independent rigorous review. Given to organisations for long-term, high-level commitment to community investment, GSK is the first manufacturing company to receive the award.

What is the CommunityMark?
The CommunityMark is the newest BITC initiative and creates an industry standard providing recognition to organisations for outstanding investment in the community. It is the only award of its type in the UK and is fully endorsed by the government and voluntary sector leaders. The aim of the CommunityMark is to improve the impact that community investment has on business and society.

How did we achieve it?
We are one of 21 pioneering organisations to be rewarded with the CommunityMark. It was given for our achievements in both our local and global community work. The programmes submitted as part of our application included:

LF programme - boy washing legs
Malaria - mother and child
PHASE - child washing hands
Positive Action - patients in clinic
Humanitarian drug donations - products being loaded onto aircraft
Children enjoying themselves at Barretstown
IMPACT Awards - Women’s Work - overall winner in 2008
- Crest Star Investigators - Child investigating science
- Employee volunteers
